LIBERALS MISS SLICK WILLIE: MSNBC SAYS CLINTON GAVE "VIRTUOSO PERFORMANCE"

MSNBC's Tom Curry breathlessly recounts speech by "vintage Clinton" at Democrats fundraiser

Liberals are pining for the go-go 90's. But, I remember when the end of the Cold War meant that the United States was told it had no more foreign policy worries It was a time when an illusory stock market bubble was promised to expand forever. It was also a time when a certain President Bill Clinton spent more time chasing Monica Lewinsky than Al Qaeda. He was more worried about making sure that his lies were bolstered than making sure he could nab Osama bin-Laden.

If MSNBC's Tom Curry and The New York Times had their way, we'd still be subjected to "vintage Clinton." Curry swoons as he relates that Clinton was "folksy, anecdotal, full of scornful gibes at the Republicans, and rhythmic with the cadences of a Southern preacher" at last night's Democratic fundraiser. Curry loves Clinton's preacher mannerisms in which Clinton lands political low-blows and has the gall to accuse the Republicans of trying to turn Kerry into a cartoon character as if the Democrats have been solely attacking George W. Bush on the issues. The good preacher said of the Republicans, "They’ve got to turn John Kerry from a three-dimensional human being to two-dimensional cartoon. It’s what they know to do."

Bill Clinton's rhetorical trick is to accuse Republicans of the very things that the liberal media lets him get away with; “They love power. They know how to get it and they know how to keep it.” Those are the words of a man whose wife ran for senator, while she was still the First Lady, of a state in which she never resided. Then, Curry's favorite preacher got even nastier, "They’ve always got white shirts and ties. They’re the ‘mature party,’ they’re the ‘Daddy party.’ They remind me of teenagers that got their inheritance too soon and couldn’t wait to blow it."

Meanwhile, the New York Times article devoted only one sentence to the fact that this was a big fundraiser for Democrats that netted $11 million. Instead, the Times couldn't wait to recount how "it was Mr. Clinton whose speech seemed to overshadow all others."

The liberals are pining for the days of Bill Clinton. They cheer, applaud and giggle at his hypocritical, nasty, mean-spirited attacks. Slick Willie has pulled the wool over their eyes, once again.
