DAILY 7: NY TIMES BITES NY POST; FRED BARNES & MICHAEL MOORE; CHINA RADAR BUY; JOANNA LEES AFFAIR; SOWELL ON KERRY; BLANKLEY ON BUSH; COLORADO

The 9/11 Commission was looking for Lloyd Thompson. The New York Post found him, and so the New York Times said he "emerged."

ALL THE NEWS FIT TO COPY: The 9/11 Commission was not able to locate a key witness who has information about why a FDNY radio channel was thought to have failed in the World Trade Center South Tower. The NYPost reported on Friday, in an exclusive, that they located and interviewed this witness, Lloyd Thompson. However, the New York Times reported on Sunday that Thompson had "emerged." The New York Times did not credit the Post for finding Thompson.

NYPOST, FRIDAY, MAY 21: 9/11 RADIO DAZE:
May 21, 2004 -- A World Trade Center fire safety officer the 9/11 commission couldn't find — but who could shed light on why a crucial FDNY radio channel appeared to fail — is hiding in plain sight. Commission staffers were unable to find Thompson, who moved from The Bronx to Brooklyn after the terror strike and recently relocated to Westchester. But The Post found him hours after getting an old address and phone number from the widow of one of his co-workers. "Any of us could have been contacted for information about him," said Meryl Mayo, whose husband, an OCS employee, died in the attack. "I think they probably didn't try."

NYTIMES, SUNDAY, MAY 23: Man Sought by 9/11 Panel Emerges to Tell of Chaos:
For several months, the national commission investigating the Sept. 11 attacks has been searching in vain for a man it believes could help answer some of the most critical questions of what happened inside the World Trade Center that day. His name is Lloyd Thompson, and for much of that morning two and a half years ago he was posted at the epicenter of chaos. Yesterday, weeks after the commission began sending him letters, interviewing former colleagues and checking with employers, Mr. Thompson emerged to tell his story. Contrary to what some investigators have speculated, Mr. Thompson said that he did not believe he ever touched the radio equipment known as a repeater, a device that amplifies the hand-held radios firefighters use.
