PHONY! IS EDWARDS THE MOST QUALIFIED DEMOCRAT TO BE VICE PRESIDENT? SO SAYS KERRY

It is hard to get excited about a phony trial lawyer who got rich by taking one-third payment cuts from the clients he supposedly worked so hard to defend from evil corporations.

Remember this sorry cast: According to Kerry, one-term Senator Edwards is more qualified than veteran senators Lieberman and Graham, longtime House leader Gephardt

The choice of Edwards is too "cute" and calculated. Kerry does not honestly believe Edwards is the most qualified man to be vice president. But, the paucity of good potential running mates for Kerry probably left him little choice but to make the superficial choice. There was not even an opportunity to make a surprise pick.

Gephardt may have been the only other primary opponent to be a viable pick. But, his many years in the House and failure to get labor support to help him out in Iowa was a big drag on his chances. The rest of the bunch prove that Kerry didn't have serious competition for the nomination (Howard Screaming Dean, aside).

The only Democrat in an executive position to merit running mate consideration was the bland Iowa Governor, Tom Vilsack. Kerry probably only considered him due to Vilsack's indirect endorsement, via his wife, right before the Iowa Caucuses.

Then there is Edwards. A one-term senator, he was reluctant to run for re-election in his home state, North Carolina. Edwards' sunny disposition won him plaudits from the media but his campaign lacked substance. Edwards lacks substance. His stump speech sounds good, but no one knows what it's about. It is hard to get excited about a trial lawyer who got rich by taking one-third payment cuts from the clients he supposedly worked so hard to defend from evil corporations.

John Edwards is a phony who talks a good game. He tries to treat every campaign audience as if it's some gullible jury. Edwards is so slick at tugging heartstrings, he's acting like he's still trying to shakedown millions of dollars for jury verdicts.

Vice President Dick Cheney must be frothing at the mouth to get his hands on Edwards. Remember how Edwards did poorly in the debates when pressed on specifics. He was awful when asked about the Defense of Marriage Act in one of the last Democratic debates.

In the 9/11 Era, John Kerry should have reassured America that his running mate can face the monumental tasks in the War on Terror. He fell far short of that responsibility by choosing John Edwards. Kerry did not choose Edwards because he thinks he's the most qualified candidate to be Vice President. Kerry chose him because he felt he had to make a superficial choice and hope it's enough to fool the public.

John Kerry wants John Edwards to go "toe-to-toe" with Dick Cheney.
