MIKE WALLACE OF '60 MINUTES' WONDERS HOW PRESIDENT BUSH HAD THE "GUTS" TO GO TO WAR IN IRAQ
Along with fellow panelist Allen Neuharth – founder of USA Today and a World War II veteran – Wallace cited Bush's lack of military experience, unfavorably comparing him to George Washington. Neuharth questioned if the Founding Fathers were wise to have made the president "the commander in chief of our military forces."I wonder how Bill Clinton didn't have the guts to go after Al Qaeda (and how Al Neuharth thinks that the military should have complete control of the military without civilian oversight - overturning an American political hallmark)
AMERICANS ARE HAPPIER:
Americans are optimistic, "very satisfied with life" and have confidence in their public institutions, especially the U.S. armed forces and law-enforcement agencies, two new polls show.

GUESS WHO'S BACK, GRIFFEY'S BACK: THE CINCINNATI REDS AND KEN GRIFFEY, JR. ARE IN FIRST PLACE
Griffey, 34, is among the National League leaders with 13 homers and 42 runs batted in after pounding 10 homers in May. He is running, hitting, throwing and soaring again, helping to power the surprising Reds to first place in the cramped N.L. Central. "Everybody acts like I left and went somewhere and then came back," Griffey said. "I just haven't been able to play. That's it."
